Central Air Conditioners:
Air conditioners may look the same on the outside, but some are quieter and more efficient than others, and some are earth friendly and save you money. The Infinity™ 21 has a 70 DBA sound rating, about the same as a new Refrigerator. Higher SEER and EER numbers save you more money. If your air conditioner is old, more than likely it is operating an 8-10 SEER. Per Carrier, for every $100.00 spent to cool your home using a 10.0 SEER air conditioner, a 21.0 SEER (the highest efficiency offered by Carrier) should cost you approximately $48.00 (operating cost estimate based on a 3 ton system). Actual savings will depend on the efficiency of your current system compared to the efficiency of a complete new system.
Why are the Carrier Air Conditioners earth friendly? Because they use Puron™ refrigerant which is environmentally sound and won’t deplete the ozone layer. Carrier introduced Puron™ refrigerant a full six years ahead of the competition. Find out more details here.
Because Heat Pumps provide both heating and cooling, their efficiency is measured with two distinct ratings. While in the cooling mode, heat pumps receive a Seasonal Energy Efficiency Ratio or SEER number. SEER is like gas mileage. The higher the gas mileage of SEER, the more efficient the automobile or system is. Most new heat pumps rate between 13.0 and 19.0 SEER. While in the heating mode, heat pumps also receive a Heating Seasonable Performance Factor or HSPF rating. Most new units have ratings between 7.7 and 9.0 HSPF. Carrier’s exclusive ComfortHeat™ Heat Pump system features two stages, allowing the heat pump to operate for longer periods at a lower stage. The result is more consistent temperature, greater air circulation and improved air quality. This system can deliver warmer air by up to 20 degrees while in the heating mode. The Fan Coil is the indoor component of an all electric heat pump system. It includes the fan and the heating/cooling coil. The fan coil is designed for a particular refrigerant, so it must match with the heat pump. A variable speed fan coil can improve comfort with improved humidity control and warmer heating temperatures, and save energy in cooling. Click here to learn more.
