What is the Angie’s List?
If you’ve ever had to search for a company to provide you a specific product or service, you know how overwhelming it can be. It can sometimes be hard to know if the company is reliable or ethical, so Angie’s List comes in and helps customers find top-rated companies. Companies that win the Super Service Award are within the top 5% of qualifying businesses in their specific category and they have an overall rating of “A.” With this award, you can guarantee that Specialty Heating & Cooling has a reputation for quality service and dedication to its customers.

“Our furnace had not been working well for a couple of years. We had work done in the past by another company who replaced the igniter switch or something … it worked for a while then not. The techs at Specialty H & C went the extra step to find out that there was an animals nest in the flue behind the pressure switches. They cleaned it out and now all is working good. Thank you all. Figuring out how this fell into the Angies list purchase was a little tricky. Specialty H&C was very helpful, friendly and professional the whole time. Thank you so much. We will certainly use them again.” -November 11, 2017

“The service went very well, very polite, very professional, as mentioned they have to come back the next day, during our heat wave in Portland area while they were busy, to fix our 3 way valve for no extra cost.” -August 2, 2017

“They were prompt, had clear pricing. and they had amazing customer service follow up.” June 6, 2017

“The service took about an hour to complete. The two workers, left the area very clean. They were just very good at what they do.” -February 6, 2017

How To Make Your Furnace More Efficient This Winter

Winter is here and that means you’ll be running your furnace more often. If you’re looking for ways to stay comfortable with your furnace but also not waste energy or money on excessive utility bills, we can help. Here’s how to make your furnace more efficient this winter.

Tip #1: Get rid of leaky ductwork.
Your furnace is working hard, but it will work even harder if you have leaky ductwork throughout your home. Your basement and attic are two of the primary places where air will leak in and out, especially if there is not adequate insulation or sealed windows and doors. Leaking ductwork not only costs homeowners hundreds and even thousands of dollars every year in wasted energy through lost heat, but it can also leak harmful particles into the air you breathe. We’re proud to provide Aeroseal Duct Sealing, which is a patented solution that fixes leaks from the inside out. With a 98% rate, this process ensures that leaks are gone and the air you breathe is clean! The process involves injecting a sealant into the ducts and as the air makes its way through the leaks, the aerosol particles collide and stick to the leak edges, sealing them well.

Tip #2: Stay on top of regular furnace tune-ups.
Scheduling regular maintenance appointments for your furnace is very important.   These appointments are one of the main ways that you can maintain the life of your system. In addition, these appointments will ensure that all parts are working properly and that the system is working at peak efficiency. No one wants an inefficient furnace that could break down at a moment’s notice – especially during the cold winter days!  Contact us today for an appointment for a routine service appointment.

Tip #3: Clean and replace furnace filters.
This is a to-do item that many homeowners forget about, but in fact, it should not be neglected! Dirty filters translate to dirty air and they also make your system work harder than it must. Clean filters will also reduce the flow of dust, mold, allergens, and other germs that can transfer into the air you’re breathing inside. Cleaning your filters every couple of months depending on the type of filter you have will make a big difference in furnace efficiency as well as indoor air quality!

Your furnace efficiency is important to us at Specialty Heating and Cooling. Start 2018 the right way and let us help you get your system repaired or tuned up so you can stay comfortable and get the most out of your furnace this winter.
