3 Signs Your AC Needs Repair

AC repair
Summer is on its way and temperatures are slowly beginning to climb into the 80s and 90s. Is your air conditioner ready to tackle the heat? Hot temperatures mean that your air conditioner should be working well so you can stay comfortable. If it isn’t, that could mean costly AC repair. The last thing you want to happen on a hot day is have your air conditioner break down, so in order to avoid problems with your system, schedule your AC repair appointment in advance.
Here are some common signs that you may need AC repair.

  1. High utility bill.
Do you have a general idea of what it costs to cool your home? If not, take a close look at your energy bill and see where costs are being allotted. Do you see a spike in cost when you use your air conditioner more? If so, your system is probably inefficient and as it gets older, it will continue to lose effectiveness. Utility bills that are on the increase should be an indicator that your system needs a check up right away.
  2. Ineffective cooling.
Your air conditioner may be running, but it may not be working at its peak. Do you notice that certain parts of your home are warmer than others? These “hot spots” shouldn’t be happening with a properly working AC unit, and may indicate that your system is not working at the correct performance level. You may need AC repair, so be sure that you call right away if you are noticing your home isn’t being cooled well.
  3. Loud sounds.
If your system is making noise, that’s never a great sign. There may be a component or belt that needs to be replaced or there could be something more serious going on inside the unit. Don’t ignore the sounds coming from your air conditioner. This could cause further damage. Instead, you should schedule an appointment right away for AC repair services. Our experienced team knows what to look for and will help you get it up and running again in no time.

Time is of the essence! Don’t wait for your air conditioning unit to break down entirely. Routine maintenance is always a great investment. Call us today to schedule an appointment.

I knew that loud sounds meant the a/c needed repairs, but I didn’t know that a high utility bill could mean it needs work. I just thought it meant that we used the a/c a lot for that month. Next time I’ll have to pay attention to how much the bill is.

Having my AC break down this summer would be awful, so I guess I should have it checked out before it quits. Our AC has been making louder noises lately. That’s not a good sign.

My utility bill was about $75 more this month than it typically has been in the past. With this has come the realization that the air conditioning turns on and off without warning. I thought that I had set it to only come on when I want it on. How do I change that setting?

Having a broken AC system during the summer can be quite annoying. No one wants to sit in a stuffy house, especially when it’s hot outside! I’m glad I found this post, because I actually HAVE noticed that a few of my rooms aren’t being cooled quite as well as the others. Do you think this could be due to the sun shining in the windows, or is it more likely an AC problem?

It is pretty easy to know if your air conditioner need to be repaired or not. The biggest indicator being that the cold air isn’t coming in the house anymore. That is when you will want to call a repairman and get the problem fixed as soon as you can.

I have suspected for some time now that our energy bill is higher than what it should be, so I am happy to see this mentioned in the article. It has been this way since we moved into the home not long ago, so I can’t compare it to past bills to see if it’s worse than it was in the past. I think it would be best for me to have our air conditioner serviced, after which we will hopefully see a drop in our bills.

Thanks for sharing the information, very useful. I’ve had one of the problems with my AC that you mention: the AC doesn’t cool properly the whole house. The hall and the bathroom are pretty cool, but two of the rooms stay warm. I will have a specialist look at it.

Great tips for how to notice something is wrong with your a/c. It’s better to spot issues before they become too big to handle so that you can save money on repair costs so this will be really helpful. Thanks so much for posting.

In this article you talked about your furnace making noises towards the end of it’s life. Well my heater is making noise and I am curious if there is any way to fix it or if the only option is replacing it. Also, do you know what kind of savings there are in switching to a more efficient model? If you could please let me know that would be great, thank you.
